HOW IT WORKS
You choose a 4, 5 or 8 month foster program and we guide you through the rest – it step by step. You’ll receive up to nine (9) On-Site Bee Colony Care Visits / Calendar Year depending on Foster Bee Family time increment that is chosen
- Inspect Beehive and provide report – each visit
- Provide supplemental bee food as required.
- Treat beehive for arthropod, mites, moths, and other pests as required with a report provided to homeowner – each visit
Harvest of Honey Frames: Our Facility:
We Remove hive frames and foundation and bring to our facility that await your arrival for pickup,
- Extract honey at our Charlotte apiary facility.
- Calendar Dates will be provided approximately two weeks prior to each honey harvest date.
- Family participation during honey harvest encouraged. Not mandatory.
- Labels, jars, bucket, and or food safe containers are provided by each Foster Bee Family (or we can supply for an additional fee.)
Springtime & Fall Beehive Arrival & Protected Winter Storage
- Setting up and removing beehives in spring and fall Beehive and fall set up and protected storage are weather dependent and varies yearly due to climate change impacts
- We will communicate and keep you informed two (2) weeks prior to beehive arrival and then removal for winter protective storage.
